President Tan Yimin Leads a Delegation to Visit UK and Ireland

From 30 October to 6 November 2018, President Tan Yimin led a delegation to visit the University of Lincoln, the University of Derby and Athlone Institute of Technology in Ireland at the invitation of these universities. Thevisityieldedfruitfulresultsthroughthe delegation’sclearunderstanding ofgeneral information concerning teaching and experimentalfacilitiesof the above universities, and in-depth communication and exchanges on the establishment of Sino-foreign cooperative programmes (institutions), joint training of master's and doctoral degrees, international joint laboratories (joint research centres), and mutual visits of teachers and students, etc.




In the UK, the delegation first visited the University of Derby, where they met with Professor Kathryn Mitchell, Vice President of the University of Derby, and Professor Judith Lambie, Vice President for External Affairs, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a general framework for future collaboration between the two universities. The two sides discussed plans for collaboration in the areas of life sciences, big data, rail transport, electrical controls and food technology. The two sides agreed that, based on research cooperation in engineering related fields, they could develop joint training of talents from both universities and Sino-foreign cooperative institutions.
