A Delegation from the University of Lincoln Visits HUT

On 25 April, Mark Swainson, Deputy Head of the National Centre for Food Manufacturing and lead for Higher Education and Research of the University of Lincoln, Yao Jun from the Faculty of Engineering, Yu Miao from the Department of Computer Science and Zhang Jia Guang from the Department of Chemistry visited the University. Peng Liyuan, Director of International ExchangeandCooperation Office, met with the guests in Conference Room 340 of the Science and Technology Building. The meeting, chaired by Director Peng Liyuan,wasattendedbyheads and directors from the Science and Technology Division, College of Electrical and Information Engineering, College of Railway Transportation, College of Mechanical Engineering, College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, College of Life Sciences and Chemistry and School of Computer Science.

Director Peng Liyuan extended a warm welcome to all the guests. They had in-depth communication and friendly exchange on facilitating cooperation between the two universities. Both sides showed a positive intention on establishing joint laboratories and applying for co-running schools. They agreed to work together to build a “smart city” featuring their cooperation and make it a reality by pushing forward relevant preparations within the year.

On the morning of April 26, the delegation gave a lecture to students and teachers in the Academic Lecture Hall of the College of Electrical and Information Engineering. In the afternoon, the delegation visited the "Off-campus Practice Base for Innovation and Entrepreneurship" in Zhuzhou International Student Entrepreneurship Park and the laboratory of the School of Packaging and Materials. The delegation was impressed by the innovative products of HUT teachers and students and laboratory facilities and hence confident in future cooperation between the two universities.

The University of Lincoln was founded in 1861 and its main campus is located in the centre of Lincoln. In 2019, the University of Lincoln ranked 22ndamong U.K. universities byGuardianfor its excellence on education, and in 2017 it was awarded Gold in thenationalassessmentofteaching quality. In 2018, it was rated as the seventh in the survey on student satisfaction.

The university has around 15,600 students from over 100 countries and over 1,600 teachers. The university is divided into four faculties, namely Humanities (namely the Faculty of Architecture and the Environment, the Faculty of Design, the Faculty of Film and Media, the Faculty of English and Journalism, the Faculty of Arts and Performance, and the Faculty of History and Heritage), Science and Technology (namely the Faculty of Chemistry, the Faculty of Computing, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Geography, the Faculty of Life Sciences, the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Medicine, the National Centre for Food Manufacturing Research, and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Technology), Social Sciences (namely the Schools of Education, Health and Care, Law, Psychology, Social and Political Sciences, Sport and Exercise Sciences, and the Centre for Professional Development), and the Lincoln International Business School.
