Since April 2019, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange has been working under the guidance of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Hanban (the office responsible for global promotion of China’s culture and Chinese language) and the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, by encouraging a wide spectrum of teachers to apply for the overseas Chinese teaching qualification.After rounds of extensive selection and strict evaluation by the University and the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, Ms. Huang Xiaohong from the College of Literature and Journalism was finally granted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters in the spring of 2019 with the qualification to teach Chinese at the East Asian Studies Centre of Turku University in Finland for two years. She will start her teaching in November, 2019.
Founded in 1920, Turku University is one of Finland's leading comprehensive universities where the current President of Finland, Sauli Niinisto, graduated. Upon arrival, Ms. Huang Xiaohong will be teaching Chinese language and help organizing activities by the Chinese Embassy, Confucius Institutes and Hanban to spread Chinese culture, promote Chinese language, tell China’s stories and help locals to know more about China.
