The College of Urban and Environmental Sciences was formed on the foundation of Research Institute of Chang-Zhu-Tan Two-Oriented Society which was established in 2009. Hunan University of Technology planned to build the College of Architecture and Urban-Rural Planning with the help of the Institute in2010. After one year, the undergraduate program of Urban Planning was applied successfully. And at the same year, the College of Architecture and Urban-Rural Planning was formed. The College was renamed the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences in June,2017. Currently, the College has a Hunan provincial key laboratory called “Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Agriculture and Animal Husbandry”, a Hunan provincial engineering laboratory called “Key Technologies of Comprehensive Utilization of Non-metallic Packaging Waste”, a Hunan province social science research base called “Green Industry and Urban Low-Carbon Development”, a Hunan graduate innovation and training base called “Ecological Living Environment Design”, a central support local special laboratory called “Green Building Design and Low-Carbon Urban and Rural Planning” and a central support local special laboratory called “Technology and Equipment of Packaging Waste Recycling Efficient Use”.
The College currently has 36 full-time faculty members. Among them there are12members with senior professional titles, accounting for33.33％,21withdoctorate, including 5 doctoral candidates, accounting for 58.33%. The College has undertaken a total of more than80research projects such as Projects in the National Science and Technology Pillar Program during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan Period, and Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China. There are more than18million Yuan in scientificresearchfunding.
